pedestrian in a wheelchair this morning. the crash happened in the city's hayes and valley neighborhood in the area of market street and octavia of boulevards are around mid night. this is video from the scene. police say that a car hit a person in a wheelchair. the pedestrian was taken to san francisco general hospital and died. no word on the identity of the pedestrian. chp officers assisted police with traffic control at octavia boulevard on ramp to south bond highway 1 01. >> in a storage will only see on kron 4. >> a mother is in jail this morning after leaving her to toddlers alone in a motel room. police initially came to the motel to a drop of diapers and lightly used clothing for the children that were staying there. when they knocked on the door, instead of the mother come into the door the

three-year-old answered the door. also in the room, was a 1 year-old. neither of them knew where their mother was. police say the 33 year- old kendra smith showed the 15 minutes later but during the time the officers were there waiting. >> the father of those children and was arrested late last week for an unrelated incident. it was during that time when he told the arresting officer about his family's hardships. the officer was trying to do a good deed and ended up having to arrest the children's mother as well. >> please start looking for this man who robbed a walnut creek yogurt shop over the weekend. it happened just before 6:00 p.m. saturday

>> welcome back. an incredible tale of survival when two planes collided in mid-air most of those planes were filled with sky divers, everyone survived.

>>george: welcome back to the kron4 morning news. we are tracking a hot spot this morning. that is the bay area. another one of those mornings where it is bad all over. mainly looking at really slow traffic. eyecare on interstate 80 and here on the 680 in the southbound direction as you head down toward walnut creek and-to continue into the san ramon valley. take a look at the 580 westbound a ride. it's damn the this morning as well coming out of the optima past and continuing all the way to dublin. 680 traffic backed up so badly in to back up to no. of the 580 interchange. we continue to have a backup. the bay

shore freeway jammed up in both directions as well. as you can see with slow and go traffic. i'm going to get to a bridge check-in just a moment first of i want to show you our camera the james lick freeway where there's an incident reported southbound as cesar chavez that has backed up the and bound by central freeway all the way to the octavia st freeway. here were backed up to ninth street. the back up as a pretty consistent. not so bad. a 16 to 18 minutes. san mateo bridge is the course of a different here is a bright spot the golden gate bridge. now the commute through marin county over 49 minutes from a bottle to the golden gate bridge. now to the weather center here's erica.

>> welcome back. new details emerging on how family members of the alleged l-a-x shooter tried to stop him. officials say 23-year-old paul ciancia is an unemployed motorcycle mechanic who recently moved to los angeles from new jersey. his family back east notified new jersey authorities after they became concerned he was about to do something violent. l-a-p-d was contacted and officers visited the suspect's home the morning of the shooting but missed him by about 45-minutes. ciancia opened fire at l-a-x killing a t-s-a worker, wounding five others on friday. one woman who knows ciancia and his three roommates - spoke to c-n-n, she says ciancia was plotting his crime. >> he asked one of the romantic and taken to the airport. he stated that he was on his way back home.

we will start with the bad news. to the east shore freeway is still backed up. there is an accident and the macarthur mayes in the westbound direction right here at the 580 interchange. 24 westbound is backing up. the nimitz freeway is still jammed and the southbound direction. look at the 580 ride. it is still as if it was about 83 in morning. the south bay freeway, the only good nils is in all the lanes are open and a similar has been cancelled. this had four lanes is shutdown long enough to back up the traffic the guadalupe parkway is still jammed up and so is the stretch of highway one on one. mid peninsula traffic is easing just a bit. sfo to hillsdale is still in the southbound direction. southbound 1 01 is no longer backed up.
